The Civic Reception is also the event where the Pride of Meltham Awards (which recognise people and organisations in the local community for their outstanding achievements in all walks of life) are presented. The Town Mayor presented a wooden shield depicting Meltham’s Coat of Arms to the recipients of the award and made a speech detailing their achievements. Look out for details of the winners in the next edition of Mercury, the Council’s newsletter delivered to houses in Meltham.
The event also raised £515.00 for charity- which will be split between the Town Mayors two chosen charities, Shelter (for the homeless) and Kirkwood Hospice.
