The Town Council is saddened to report that further damage has been caused to Joe’s memorial skateboard bench and nameplate at Broadlands Skate Park.
The bench, which was created as a lasting tribute to Joe and serves as a special place of remembrance for family, friends and the local skateboarding community, has been subjected to additional vandalism. The latest damage is particularly disappointing given the significance of the memorial and the respect it deserves.
The Council understands that skate parks are places for young people to enjoy, socialise and develop their skills, and the vast majority of users treat the facilities responsibly. However, incidents such as this have a negative impact on the whole community and cause considerable upset to those who knew and loved Joe.
We are asking parents and guardians to please speak with their children about respecting community facilities and memorials. A simple conversation about the importance of treating public spaces with care can make a real difference.
If anyone has information about the damage, they are encouraged to contact the Town Council.
Together, we can help ensure Broadlands Skate Park remains a welcoming and respectful place for everyone.
Kind regards,
Mark Brook
Town Clerk on behalf of Meltham Town Council
