Meltham Town Council are inviting the local community to come along and learn how to save a life. The Town Council are offering two free CPR training sessions this September. The sessions last about 2 hours and those attending will learn about CPR and the correct use of defibrillators. The first session will on Saturday 15th September at 10.30 am in the Jubilee Room on the first floor of the Carlile Institute in Meltham. The second session will be on the evening of Thursday 20th September at 7.30 pm also in the Jubilee room.
The sessions are open to everyone including children, who are encouraged to come along and learn these important skills. Anyone can do this training - no special skills are required! Just turn up no booking is required.
In the UK less than 1 in 10 people who suffer a cardiac arrest outside of hospital survive. The Town Council wants to change this by training as many local people as possible in CPR.
The sessions will be run by a first responder with Yorkshire Ambulance. These simple easy to learn techniques really can save lives. The Town Council will be looking to organise more of these training sessions over the coming months and years.
