On Friday 5th July our Town Mayor, Cllr David Haigh and his consort Mrs Haigh attended the unveiling of the Community Quilt at the Carlile Institute, held in the Jubilee Room.
A one hundred square quilt, that was created by the local community and stitched together, representing the local features of the Meltham area was officially launched. The project that was initiated by one of our Councillors Cllr Ann Jurczyszyn, whom was inspired by ‘Speak their Name’ memorial quilt created and displayed at the Carlile Institute in 2023.
This was in collaboration with Meltham Quilters, Upcycle Fashion, The Crossroads Shop and the Community Haberdashery.
Another fantastic community led project, that continues to build upon the Town community spirit.
The quilt is available for display at events, and if you are interested then please contact julia@upcycle-fashion.co.uk.
